To help ensure a safe, enjoyable and well-managed experience for all patrons, Muswellbrook Race Club has established the following Conditions of Entry.

By entering Skellatar Park, purchasing or using a ticket, accepting an invitation, using a membership privilege or entering under accreditation, patrons agree to comply with these conditions, all lawful directions issued by Club staff and security, and any applicable Racing NSW requirements.

Additional conditions may apply to individual race meetings, hospitality areas, functions or ticket types.

TICKETING

Tickets are issued subject to the conditions displayed at the point of sale, any event-specific ticketing terms and Muswellbrook Race Club’s Conditions of Entry.

Patrons may be required to present:

  • A valid ticket, membership card, invitation or accreditation
  • Proof of identity
  • Proof of age
  • Evidence of any concession or entitlement used when purchasing a ticket

Tickets, memberships and accreditations must not be copied, altered, shared or used fraudulently.

Unless otherwise required by Australian Consumer Law or stated in the applicable ticketing terms:

  • Tickets are not refundable where a patron changes their mind or can no longer attend
  • Booking and transaction fees may be non-refundable
  • Lost, stolen or damaged tickets may not be replaced
  • Unauthorised resale may result in cancellation
  • Tickets must not be used for advertising, promotions, competitions, resale packages or commercial hospitality without written approval

Muswellbrook Race Club reserves the right to vary advertised race times, fields, entertainment, hospitality arrangements and event details where reasonably required.

Cancelled, Abandoned or Rescheduled Meetings

Race meetings may be postponed, abandoned, transferred, rescheduled or conducted without spectators due to weather, track conditions, safety concerns, Racing NSW directions, government requirements or circumstances beyond the Club’s reasonable control.

Any refund, credit or exchange arrangements will be determined according to the relevant ticket terms, services already provided and Australian Consumer Law.

Patrons should retain their ticket and proof of purchase until the Club publishes the applicable arrangements.

DRESS CODE

Patrons must comply with the dress regulations applying to their ticketed or hospitality area.

General admission attire must be clean, neat and appropriate for a family-friendly racing environment.

Smart casual dress standards may apply to:

  • Members areas
  • Members Bar
  • Silks Function Centre
  • Corporate hospitality areas
  • Sponsor and official areas
  • Other spaces identified by the Club

For gentlemen, collared shirts and enclosed footwear are recommended. Jackets and ties may be encouraged on feature race days.

The following may be considered unsuitable:

  • Thongs, scuffs or beach-style footwear in members or hospitality areas
  • Singlets or sleeveless undershirts
  • Beachwear or swimwear
  • Torn, dirty or excessively distressed clothing
  • Clothing displaying offensive words, slogans or imagery
  • Attire considered excessively revealing or inappropriate for the area

Members are responsible for ensuring their guests comply with the applicable dress regulations.

Muswellbrook Race Club reserves the right to refuse access to a specific area where a patron does not meet the required dress standard.

ENTRY

Entry to Muswellbrook Race Club is subject to venue capacity, valid admission, security screening and any event-specific conditions.

Muswellbrook Race Club may refuse entry to or remove any person who:

  • Is intoxicated or appears to be under the influence of drugs
  • Is drinking alcohol while approaching or waiting to enter the venue
  • Behaves in a violent, offensive, threatening, quarrelsome or disruptive manner
  • Poses a risk to patrons, staff, racing participants or horses
  • Holds an invalid, altered, duplicated or fraudulently obtained ticket
  • Refuses a bag inspection or security screening
  • Refuses to provide acceptable identification when lawfully requested
  • Enters or attempts to enter a restricted area without authorisation
  • Refuses to follow a lawful direction
  • Breaches these Conditions of Entry

Where a patron is refused entry or removed for breaching these conditions, no refund will ordinarily be provided.

Security Screening and Bag Inspections

Muswellbrook Race Club may conduct bag inspections, visual inspections and other reasonable security screening at entry points or within the venue.

Entry may be refused where a person:

  • Refuses to present a bag or item for inspection
  • Attempts to conceal a prohibited item
  • Refuses to surrender or remove a prohibited item
  • Refuses to comply with a reasonable security direction
Prohibited Items

The following items must not be brought into the racecourse without prior written approval:

  • Alcohol
  • Illegal drugs or prohibited substances
  • Firearms, knives or weapons
  • Items capable of being used as weapons
  • Fireworks, flares or explosive devices
  • Glass bottles or glassware
  • Air horns, whistles or devices likely to frighten horses
  • Laser pointers
  • Drones or remotely piloted aircraft
  • Unapproved professional photography or recording equipment
  • Unauthorised advertising, political or promotional materials
  • Items that obstruct entrances, exits or viewing areas
  • Any item considered unsafe, disruptive or unsuitable
Food and Non-Alcoholic Drinks

Unless otherwise stated for a particular race meeting, patrons may bring reasonable quantities of personal food for their own consumption.

The following may be restricted:

  • Commercial catering
  • Food intended for sale or distribution
  • Glass containers
  • Large eskies that obstruct public areas
  • Barbecues, cooking appliances or open flames
  • Food preparation within public areas
  • Any item creating a safety or hygiene risk

Sealed, unopened non-alcoholic drinks may be permitted at the Club’s discretion.

Marquees and Temporary Structures

Personal marquees, gazebos, tents, shade structures and similar equipment are not permitted without prior written approval from Muswellbrook Race Club.

This restriction helps maintain safe access routes, clear viewing areas and compliance with venue and event-management plans.

Animals

Dogs, pets and other animals are not permitted within the racecourse grounds.

Accredited assistance animals are permitted when accompanying a person with disability. Patrons attending with an assistance animal are encouraged to contact the Club before race day.

Restricted Racing Areas

Patrons must not enter restricted or operational areas without authorisation.

Restricted areas may include:

  • The racetrack
  • Training tracks
  • Mounting yard
  • Tie-up stalls
  • Jockey and stewards rooms
  • Weighing areas
  • Veterinary areas
  • Horse movement zones
  • Media areas
  • Administration and staff-only areas

Patrons must not touch, feed, approach or interfere with horses, jockeys, trainers, officials or racing operations.

RESPONSIBLE SERVICE OF ALCOHOL

Muswellbrook Race Club is a licensed venue and is committed to the responsible service of alcohol.

Patrons must not bring alcohol onto the racecourse. Alcohol may only be purchased from authorised outlets operating within the licensed premises.

Club staff may:

  • Refuse service of alcohol
  • Limit the number or type of drinks purchased
  • Require water or food to be made available
  • Stop alcohol service in a particular area
  • Refuse entry to an intoxicated person
  • Require an intoxicated person to leave
  • Contact NSW Police where necessary

Alcohol must not be sold or supplied to an intoxicated person or a minor.

Patrons must not:

  • Attempt to obtain alcohol after being refused service
  • Purchase alcohol for an intoxicated person
  • Supply alcohol to a minor
  • Remove alcohol from the licensed premises unless permitted

Any unauthorised alcohol may be confiscated or must be removed from the venue.

Patrons engaging in violent, quarrelsome, disorderly or offensive conduct may be refused service, removed from the venue and reported to NSW Police.

MINORS AT THE RACECOURSE

A minor is a person under 18 years of age.

Minors must remain under the supervision of a responsible adult while attending Muswellbrook Race Club.

Minors must not:

  • Purchase, possess or consume alcohol
  • Obtain alcohol from another person
  • Gamble or place a wager
  • Enter age-restricted liquor or wagering areas
  • Remain unsupervised within the venue

The supervising adult is responsible for the minor’s conduct.

A minor found consuming or attempting to obtain alcohol may be removed from the venue together with the supervising adult. The matter may also be referred to NSW Police.

Proof of age may be requested at any time. Patrons who cannot provide acceptable identification may be refused alcohol or access to age-restricted areas.

CAR PARKS AND PERSONAL POSSESSIONS

Vehicles are brought into and parked within Muswellbrook Race Club at the owner’s risk.

Drivers must:

  • Follow all signs and staff directions
  • Observe posted speed limits
  • Park only in designated areas
  • Keep emergency and horse-movement routes clear
  • Take care around pedestrians, horses and operational vehicles
  • Avoid unnecessary horn use or excessive noise

Accessible parking is reserved for vehicles displaying a valid Mobility Parking Scheme permit.

Muswellbrook Race Club is not responsible for loss of or damage to vehicles or their contents, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

Patrons are responsible for their own personal possessions and should:

  • Keep belongings with them
  • Avoid leaving bags unattended
  • Remove valuables from vehicles
  • Secure vehicles before entering the venue
  • Report unattended or suspicious items to staff

Lost property may be retained, disposed of or donated after a reasonable period in accordance with Club policy.

WAGERING ONCOURSE

Persons under 18 years of age must not gamble or place a wager.

Patrons must comply with all applicable wagering laws, Racing NSW requirements and directions issued by Stewards, licensed bookmakers, TAB personnel and Club officials.

Patrons must not:

  • Conduct unlawful wagering activity
  • Interfere with licensed bookmakers or TAB operations
  • Enter restricted wagering areas without authorisation
  • Use another person to place a wager on behalf of a minor
  • Transmit or communicate bookmaker betting odds where prohibited
  • Engage in suspicious activity that may affect racing integrity

Any suspected unlawful wagering, suspicious betting activity or integrity concern may be reported to Racing NSW, NSW Police or another relevant authority.

PHOTOGRAPHY, FILMS AND RECORDINGS

Personal photography and recording are generally permitted, provided they do not:

  • Interfere with racing operations
  • Obstruct other patrons
  • Enter restricted areas
  • Compromise safety or horse welfare
  • Breach another person’s privacy
  • Involve prohibited or commercial-grade equipment

Commercial photography, professional filming, livestreaming, broadcasting or recording for promotional or commercial purposes requires prior written approval from Muswellbrook Race Club and may also require Racing NSW approval.

Drones and remotely piloted aircraft are not permitted without prior written approval and all required regulatory permissions.

By attending Muswellbrook Race Club, patrons acknowledge that they may be photographed, filmed or recorded by the Club, Racing NSW, broadcasters, media organisations, sponsors or event partners.

Images and recordings may be used for:

  • Race broadcasts
  • News and editorial coverage
  • Club publications
  • Website and social media
  • Advertising and promotion
  • Security and incident investigation
  • Historical and archival purposes

Unauthorised sale, publication or commercial use of race-day images or recordings is prohibited.

VENUE SAFETY AND SECURITY

Muswellbrook Race Club is an active racing, training, hospitality and event venue.

Patrons must take reasonable care for their own safety and the safety of others and must follow all directions issued by Club staff, security personnel, Racing NSW officials, emergency services and NSW Police.

Patron Conduct

The following conduct is prohibited:

  • Violence, threats, intimidation or harassment
  • Offensive, discriminatory or abusive language
  • Fighting or encouraging a fight
  • Sexual harassment or inappropriate behaviour
  • Throwing objects
  • Climbing fences, barriers or structures
  • Damaging Club property
  • Obstructing entrances, exits or emergency routes
  • Interfering with staff, officials, contractors or racing participants
  • Entering restricted areas
  • Creating excessive noise likely to frighten horses
  • Any conduct that places people, property or horses at risk
Horse Welfare and Racecourse Safety

Patrons must not:

  • Touch, feed or approach horses without permission
  • Enter horse pathways or handling areas
  • Throw objects or use devices that may frighten horses
  • Interfere with jockeys, trainers, handlers, veterinary staff or officials
  • Obstruct horse movement or racing operations
Smoking and Vaping

Smoking and vaping are only permitted in designated areas.

Patrons must comply with all venue signage and applicable smoke-free laws. Smoking or vaping may be prohibited in indoor areas, enclosed spaces, food-service areas, grandstands, entrances and other designated locations.

Emergency Procedures

In an emergency, patrons must follow all directions issued by Club staff, security and emergency services.

Patrons must not obstruct:

  • Emergency exits
  • Evacuation routes
  • Fire equipment
  • First-aid areas
  • Emergency vehicle access
  • Horse evacuation and movement routes

Race meetings may be delayed, suspended, evacuated or abandoned where required for safety.

Surveillance

CCTV and other security systems may operate throughout Muswellbrook Race Club.

Footage may be used for:

  • Patron and staff safety
  • Venue security
  • Incident investigation
  • Protection of property
  • Racing integrity
  • Compliance with legal and regulatory obligations
  • Assistance to Racing NSW, NSW Police or other lawful authorities
Liability

A racecourse is an active sporting and operational environment. Potential hazards include horses, vehicles, outdoor surfaces, weather, temporary structures and crowded areas.

Nothing in these Conditions of Entry excludes or restricts any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian law.
